Jason Cummings to Rangers is Officially Over After Peterborough Chief Confirms Deal

Jason Cummings definitely won’t be a Rangers player this season after Peterborough chairman Darragh MacAnthony confirmed they’ve signed him.

The Posh chief is never shy offering his views on social media so it makes for interesting reading for fans, particularly during the transfer windows.

He’s been busy this summer informing those supporters who is coming in and out of the door at ABAX Stadium.

And today MacAnthony has given them an update on their latest signing – Nottingham Forest and Scotland striker Cummings.

The former Hibs man spent the second half of last season on loan at Rangers after failing to make an impact in his debut season for Forest in the Championship.

He was popular with supporters despite playing just 18 times in the second half of the season, scoring six goals with the majority of his games coming off the bench.

So it was always a doubt Rangers going back in for Cummings under new manager Steven Gerrard.

And now MacAnthony’s tweet confirms he won’t be returning to Ibrox this summer.

The Peterborough chairman teased his signing out first:

Peterborough had a few bids for Cummings rejected while he was at Hibs, but have finally got their man – with MacAnthony confirming that shortly after:

Peterborough will surely have their sights set on winning promotion to the English Championship in the coming season so Cummings will be expected to hit the goals to get them there.

As for Rangers, they’ve already added Umar Saqid to their striking options alongside Alfredo Morelos and it wouldn’t be surprising if they were to sign another player between now and the end of the window too.

Rangers fans – are you sad to see Cummings go elsewhere?
