Liverpool Confirm Sadio Mane as Their New Number 10

Liverpool have confirmed Sadio Mane as their new number 10.

The Senegalese attacker is now back at Melwood after having some downtime following the World Cup.

And if that wasn’t exciting enough news for Liverpool fans, the club announcing that he’ll wear number 10 moving forward should be enough for them.

Mane has been outstanding for the Anfield club since signing from Southampton in 2016, scoring 33 goals in 73 games and forming one part of their star trio of attackers alongside Roberto Firmino and Mohamed Salah last campaign.

The number 10 jersey hadn’t been claimed since Philippe Coutinho departed Liverpool for Barcelona last January, but finally someone has taken it on – and that’s Mane.

The club confirmed that via social media this afternoon:

Fortunately for supporters, anyone who bought Mane jerseys for the upcoming season with the number 19 on the back can get a like-for-like swap for the new number 10 shirt.

It just keeps getting better if you’re a Liverpool fan.
