The England international seemed set to leave the club this summer after failing to dislodge makeshift left-back Ashley Young for most of last season, with Jose Mourinho seemingly unconvinced about his tactical intelligence – and fans regularly criticising his body shape.
But the 23-year-old looks like he’s improving both by putting in extra work on the training pitch.
Shaw put in the hours behind closed doors whilst his team-mates were off competing at the World Cup, and according to the Metro he’s starting to really reap the benefits during pre-season training in the searing Los Angeles heat – and came out on top ahead of his colleagues in many of the agility, fitness and fat percentage test.
United have been linked with Juventus left-back Alex Sandro, but it now looks like Shaw will be given the opportunity to finally grasp the role of first-choice left-back – almost four years after he signed for almost £30 million from Southampton.
Could 2018/19 finally be the season Shaw fulfils his undoubted potential?
What do you think?
