Manchester City have prepared their supporters for the start of the new Premier League season – by sending out season ticket holders little bags of confetti ahead of the first match of the new campaign.
Pep Guardiola’s men will be welcomed back to the Etihad as all-conquering champions after winning last season’s title with an astonishing return of 100 points, and it seems the club’s hierarchy are keen to generate a party atmosphere for the first home fixture of the 2018/19 season, against Huddersfield on August 19.
You’d imagine the slick ad exciting football played by Pep’s expensively-assembled squad would be enough to get Sky Blues supporters excited without the help of little pieces of blue paper, but apparently not.
That’s whyย Manchester City have sent season ticket holders bags of confetti to throw ahead of the Huddersfield game, and it’s been greeted with a touch of confusion.
The bag of confetti comes adorned with the message, “At our first home match, bring your scarf and throw this confetti in the air when the Champions walk out”:
