The Portuguese defender spent just a year in Scotland playing for the Ibrox outfit, appearing 25 times and largely disappointing despite his experience.
He’s been at the World Cup with Portugal this summer so didn’t report for pre-season with Steven Gerrard’s men as they started early in preparation for their Europa League qualifying campaign kicking off tonight.
But it seems neither Rangers nor Alves were too interested in continuing together – leading to Gerrard confirming that his deal had been mutually terminated this week.
And now today Parma have confirmed Alves as their latest signing:

Parma have just been promoted to Serie A so are busy strengthening their squad for the challenge.
Given the history of the club, it should be a very interesting move for Alves, but he’ll have to improve on the form he showed at Rangers last season.
