Plenty of Celtic Fans Think Jozo Šimunović Simply Can’t be Trusted Anymore

Celtic cruised through to the second-round of the Champions League qualifiers tonight against Armenian side FC Alashkert, courtesy of a comfortable 6-0 victory, but Jozo Šimunović‘s red card left a sour taste in the mouth of some supporters – and for a lot of fans it was the final straw.

A double from Moussa Dembele and a James Forrest strike made sure the Hoops won 3-0 at Celtic Park this evening, following on from last week’s 3-0 victory away from home, and they did so despite being down to ten men for 79 minutes of the match.

Šimunović was shown a straight red card in the 11th minute for a rash, high challenge on one of his opponents, and whilst an automatic dismissal might have seemed harsh, he definitely did enough to give the referee the opportunity to get his cards out.

Šimunović’s red card now leaves Brendan Rodgers short of options at centre-back for the next round against Norwegian champions Rosenborg, with Dedryck Boyata still unlikely to be back and able to play following his World Cup exploits.

Is this the final straw for the Bosnian defender? This lot seem to think so:

Do you think Celtic should push the boat out for a new centre-back this month?
