Rangers Fans Are Unhappy with How Fabio Cardoso’s Departure Has Been Handled

Rangers have released Fabio Cardoso this afternoon – but the club’s supporters are far from happy with how the Portuguese centre-back’s departure has been handled.

The 24-year-old arrived for around £1.5 million in the summer of 2017, and was one of previous manager Pedro Caixinha’s headline signings along with his compatriot Bruno Alves.

Whilst he was obviously a talented player with the ball at his feet, Cardoso soon struggled with the intense and physical nature of the Scottish game, and found himself out in the cold following Caixinha’s sacking last October.

The former Benfica defender has had next to no involvement at all during Steven Gerrard’s pre-season preparations this summer, and now the club have confirmed his contract has been terminated by mutual consent.

Couldn’t Rangers have found a buyer of some sort, even for a couple of hundred grand? Or even send him out on-loan for a season? The Rangers supporters are wondering why another significant chunk of money has been sorely wasted:

What do you think of the situation?
