Tony Watt Marks Return to Football With Goal on St Johnstone Debut

Tony Watt marked his return to football this week with a goal on his debut for St Johnstone.

The former Celtic striker has been without a club since leaving OH Leuven in Belgium last year.

He was unable to sign for another club after already appearing for both Charlton and OHL last season.

But Watt appeared in demand this summer after becoming available – and it’s St Johnstone who have managed to tie up the 24-year-old hitman on a one-year deal.

Watt will now be focusing on his match sharpness and contributing to a successful season for the McDiarmid Park club.

And he’s started off on a positive note, hitting the back of the net as Tommy Wright’s men beat Berwick Rangers 4-0 in a pre-season friendly last night:

As you can see from the interaction on that tweet, it’s a goal that has caught the attention of Scottish football fans.

And that should come as no surprise considering Watt’s past achievements and the intrigue surrounding his move to St Johnstone.
