Celtic-Linked Diego Reyes Officially Confirmed as Fenerbahce Signing

Diego Reyes has been officially confirmed as Fenerbahce‘s latest signing – ending any hope Celtic fans had of signing him.

Not that the Hoops had any concrete interest in the Mexico international.

The centre back was at the World Cup with his country in the summer and represented a very appealing summer target after deciding to leave Porto at the end of his contract last season.

With Celtic still absolutely desperate to strengthen at centre back, you’d have thought the club may have been interested in Reyes.

At least fans certainly were.

But all hope is gone now after Fenerbahce confirmed him as their latest summer signing:

The hope would be that Celtic were interested in Reyes in some way, but you can understand him choosing the money of Fenerbahce – as well as Europa League football with the Turks this season.

And Celtic’s search for a centre back continues, with Brendan Rodgers still relying on a young and inexperienced band of central defenders in the early part of the season.
