Girona Include Patrick Roberts in Season Opener Squad List.. Despite No Announcement

Girona have included Patrick Roberts in the squad list for their La Liga opening game against Real Valladolid this weekend – despite no announcement of his signing.

The Manchester City winger is widely expected to join the Catalonian side on a season-long loan.

That news was reported in Spain earlier this week, and ended any hope Celtic may have had of signing Roberts for the third time.

But so far there’s been no confirmation of his signing from the La Liga club or City – yet Roberts has been included in their squad list for the clash with Valladolid tomorrow night:

It’s likely Roberts will be announced officially at some point today given he arrived in Spain two days ago.

But it is a bizarre way to confirm the signing of a player.

In his time at Celtic, Roberts became a fans’ favourite, scoring 18 goals in 82 appearances to help the Hoops win seven major trophies.

However, Roberts found game time hard to come by last season and returned to City in the summer to pursue other opportunities.
