Graeme Souness has brutally stuck the boot into Manchester United following this afternoon’s defeat at Brighton, calling Jose Mourinho‘s side the most average group of United players he’s seen in decades.
The Red Devils were looking to make it two wins from two in the Premier League following last weekend’s 2-1 win over Leicester City at Old Trafford, but were chasing the game from the 25th minute when veteran striker Glenn Murray gave the home side the lead.
United were woeful at the back throughout, and in the end Brighton won 3-2, and Sky Sports pundit Souness wasn’t afraid to dish out the criticism to Mourinho and his expensively assembled side.
Ok, so this is Souness, an absolute genius at spotting talent. Claims that these are just average players for #MUFC They move to other clubs and improve. A new ambitious manager comes in, the narrative changes about the same players. pic.twitter.com/4LGAzAHukP

Souness doesn't often talk sense but he's right most average United team since before Fergie

Souness is a bellend , but saying this is most bang average team we've had in years is spot on.. there's nothing about any of these , just whimper through games #ManUtd

They might be a fair distance from being the finished article but is this really the most average Manchester United side since before Fergie took over?
And if so, where do they need to improve? Central defence?
