The Scottish winger only moved to Wigan in January, but has made just eight competitive appearances for them since then.
And his cause hasn’t been helped with the Latics’ promotion to the English Championship and the recent signing of Josh Windass.
You’d think Walker wouldn’t be available given he’s only been a Wigan player for seven months, but his recent movements suggest he might be on the way out of the club.
To begin with, take his manager Paul Hurst’s comments yesterday about speculation he could leave:
Paul Cook on reports linking Jamie Walker with loan move to Rangers:
“I’m not going to debate individual players, we’re dead happy with our squad, there’s lads who won’t be on the bench like Jamie – that’s something we’ll speak about because of circumstances” #wafc

That wouldn’t fill anyone hopeful of Walker getting games with confidence.
Then, when you look at Walker’s Instagram, he posted this on Thursday:
Does that excite you, Hearts fans?
Next, Walker took to his Instagram Story to share a video of him driving down a street in Edinburgh city centre – just a day before Wigan take on QPR.
And the Wigan squad was confirmed for that game hours ago – and it unsurprisingly doesn’t include Walker:

So should Rangers or Hearts be interested in what’s going on with Walker?
He’s obviously got the connection to the Jambos after breaking through at the club and going on to make 182 appearances before leaving for Wigan.
But he was also linked to Rangers for the early part of last season and Steven Gerrard’s team may be interested in him if Wigan were to make him available.
