Liverpool’s Roberto Firmino Donates £60,000 to Save Two Fans with Rare Genetic Disease

Liverpool striker Roberto Firmino has shown himself to be one of football’s nicest guys by donating £60,000 to save the life of two fans with a rare genetic disease.

The Brazilian international and his wife, Larissa Pereira, donated the final chunk of money needed for fans Joao de Amorim, 6, and 11-month-old Miguel de Amorim to receive a year’s treatment for spinal muscular atrophy (SMA).

Parents Alex Jose de Amorim and Gracieli Schlemmer, from the Brazilian state of Santa Catarina, appealed on Facebook and Twitter for donations to help them pay for their sons’ essential but expensive treatment.

The couple needed to raise just over £825,000 to pay for a year of care and treatment, but were still £59,132 short of their target when Firmino and his wife Larissa heard of the struggle and decided to get involved, according to Spanish newspaper Marca.

He might be one of the Premier League’s most ruthless finishers, but Bobby Firmino is one hell of a nice man.

Well done to Bobby and his wife Larissa!
