Patrick Roberts Return to Celtic Looks Dead With Reports He’ll Move to Spain

Any hope Celtic had of signing Patrick Roberts again look dead with reports he’ll seal a move to Spain today.

With the close of the English transfer window last week, the talented winger was left at Manchester City knowing he’d have to wait until January to get another move to another team in England or explore limited options away from the country.

Understandably, Celtic were seen as one of those options given Roberts is a fans’ favourite there after two-and-a-half successful seasons with the Hoops.

But he bid farewell to the Glasgow outfit at the end of last season to return to City and it looked unlikely he’d be back.

That now looks like a definite with reports in Spain saying he will sign for La Liga outfit Girona today.

The news was broken by fichajes.com‘s Ivan Vargas, who reports that Roberts will join the Montilivi side:

It’s an exciting opportunity for Roberts, who will be hoping to impress enough in La Liga to earn a better move next summer once his loan ends.
