Docherty only joined the Gers in January from Hamilton Accies for a fee of around £700,000, and his initial displays in the club’s iconic light blue jersey were very promising indeed.

However, it seems Docherty hasn’t been able to persuade Steven Gerrard of his talents, and today it was announced that Docherty had been sent to English League One side Shrewsbury Town for the remainder of the 2018/19 campaign, with the 21-year-old looking to gain more playing time down south.
Gerrard has signed 11 new players this summer, with 11 heading out of the Ibrox exit door, and so far his decisions have been backed to the hilt by the Gers fanbase.
However, there’s plenty of supporters who are wondering about the logic behind this one – particularly when there’s plenty of players considered deadwood still remaining at Ibrox:
Absolute joke if we let Docherty go out on loan. In my opinion, he’s definitely good enough to play in that side. It wouldn’t make any sense to loan him out

Shite decision. Still got Hodson, Halliday, Foderingham on the books and we get rid of Dochs.

Disappointed he isn’t staying as really rate this man. Will hopefully be back next year and become a major player for us.

Baffling. There is worse players still being selected for the squad tbh. Hopefully a few to be punted yet
