Should Chelsea Pursure This Deal If They Have to Sell Thibaut Courtois?

Thibaut Courtois has been told that he can leave Chelsea before the end of the summer transfer window, according to reports.

The Belgian goalkeeper has had to deal with speculation around his future for years, but that has reached its peak over recent months with Real Madrid believed to be interested in signing him.

Now, with the window closing on Thursday and English clubs desperate to take care of their business before the start of the Premier League season, Chelsea have reportedly told Courtois that he can leave.

And that’s only going to intensify the situation surrounding Real’s interest.

But one Chelsea fan has suggested that the Stamford Bridge club should pursue a deal with Atletico Madrid for the Belgian.

Courtois actually spent three seasons on loan at Atletico after joining Chelsea in 2011, making 154 appearances for Diego Simeone’s men.

So maybe a return there would appeal for all parties?

We’re not too sure Chelsea would be willing to offer £30million on top of Courtois to sign Oblak – even if his contract expires at Stamford Bridge next summer.

But maybe a deal with Atletico could make more sense for everyone involved.
