Steven Gerrard Confirms Kyle Lafferty News.. But Gives Bad Update on Jamie Murphy

Steven Gerrard has confirmed Rangers are close to signing Kyle Lafferty – but has given a bad update on Jamie Murphy’s fitness.

The Ibrox manager spoke to the media this afternoon ahead of his side’s Europa League clash with FC Ufa tomorrow night.

And we were expecting to get some Lafferty news after reports earlier that he was set to have a medical with the club.

Now Gerrard’s words just add to the story and will get supporters expecting an announcement soon:

Gerrard also told how winger Murphy is set to miss the rest of the season after suffering an anterior cruciate ligament injury against Kilmarnock at the weekend.

He had to be substituted in the first half and fears have proven justified with Gerrard saying:

So while the Lafferty news is very positive, Murphy’s sidelining is a setback for Rangers after their positive start to the campaign.

The wideman only signed a permanent deal at the club in the summer after spending the second half of last season on loan at Brighton.
