Video: Romelu Lukaku Misses An Absolute Sitter During Man Utd v Spurs

Romelu Lukaku was presented with a gilt-edged opportunity in the early stages of Manchester United‘s crucial clash with Tottenham Hotspur this evening, but the Belgian international somehow managed to send the ball spinning wide of the far post.

Given last week’s desperate defeat against Brighton, United went into tonight’s clash against Spurs knowing three points was crucial, and a rousing performance to go alongside them, and the Red Devils definitely started the brighter of the two sides.

And it wasn’t long before the first big chance of the game came along for Lukaku, who did well to pounce on Danny Rose’s slack backpass, and looked absolutely certain to stick the ball beyond Hugo Lloris.

As one of the deadliest strikers in English and European football, he’ll probably be losing sleep over this clip for many weeks to come:

It’s not quite the easiest chance we’ve ever seen spurned but it’s definitely a moment where the net should’ve bulged.

What do you think of the miss?
