Steven Gerrard watched his side reach the quarter-finals of the Betfred Cup this afternoon – and then revealed the Gers are homing in on new signings before their next fixture.
Gerrard watched from the sidelines at Rugby Park as Alfredo Morelos scored a perfect hat-trick to see off hosts Kilmarnock in the last-16, with the result maintaining his unbeaten start to life as the Ibrox club’s manager.
But if supporters thought their day had peaked on the full-time whistle they were wrong, with Gerrard confirming new recruits are on their way – and he certainly didn’t pour cold water on the suggestion that one might be Hearts striker Kyle Lafferty:

Steven Gerrard hailed an ‘excellent’ performance from his Rangers side after they beat Kilmarnock 3-1.
He says ‘plastic pitches are not as safe as grass’ after Jamie Murphy’s injury.
When asked about Kyle Lafferty he said ‘he’s a great player, I like him a lot’. pic.twitter.com/iNp8TXHim5

Rangers are at home to Russian side FC Ufa in the Europa League playoff round on Thursday and despite their excellent form, Gerrard knows he’ll need all the help he can get to reach the competition’s group stages.
But is he hinting that Lafferty will soon be returning to Rangers for a second stint?
What do you think?
