Brendan Rodgers’ side went into this afternoon’s early kick-off under a cloud, having lost back to back matches for the first time in the Irishman’s tenure.
Celtic fell to a surprise 1-0 defeat to Hearts in the Scottish Premiership last weekend, followed by their swift elimination from the Champions League qualifiers at the hands of AEK Athens on Wednesday.
Needless to say, the Hoops weren’t at their very best against Alan Archibald’s men, with a lapse of judgement from Jack Hendry allowing Thistle to net what looked like a crucial equaliser.
However, when push came to shove, Celtic’s quality shone through, especially in their third goal which saw Gamboa, Forrest and Rogic all play a role:
"Game over. Tie over."
"Celtic are home and hosed!"
Crisis averted? Partick Thistle pulled level, but Dembele hit back within minutes before Tom Rogic ended the tie.

Today’s victory brings a painful week to an end for the Celtic faithful, as fans continue to plead with the board to strengthen the playing squad before the transfer window slams shut at the end of the month.
