Who Celtic and Rangers Could and Couldn’t Face in Europa League Groups

Celtic and Rangers will both play Europa League group stage football this season.

Both Glasgow teams qualified today following positive results in the second leg of their ties.

Rangers were first to do it, drawing 1-1 with Ufa out in Russia to seal a 2-1 aggregate victory.

It wasn’t without difficulty though as Ufa cancelled out Ovie Ejaria’s early goal before Alfredo Morelos and Jon Flanagan were both sent off for Steven Gerrard’s men.

But they got the job done – and now they’ll be joined by Celtic in tomorrow’s group stage draw.

The Hoops are in the draw after beating Suduva 3-0 in Glasgow tonight to secure a 4-1 aggregate win.

Leigh Griffiths’ 100th goal for Celtic got them on the scoresheet on the night before Callum McGregor made it 2-0 and Kristoffer Ajer rounded off the scoring.

Now both teams can look forward to the group stage – and here are who they can and can’t face in the draw.

Per’s Roger Hannah, the pots are as follows:

From pot one, you have some big European forces like Sevilla, Arsenal, Chelsea and Lazio – as well as Zenit, who knocked the Hoops out of the Europa League last season.

As Celtic are in pot two, they can’t draw any team here. So avoiding sides like AC Milan, Marseille, Fenerbahce and Sporting should be seen as a boost. Rangers, however, will have to contend with a pot two team that isn’t Celtic.

You’d have to pick out Spartak, Dinamo Zagreb and Real Betis as the real danger teams here.

Pot four always throws up some unknown sides, but there are familiar names like Rosenborg and Slavia Prague. Rangers obviously can’t draw Celtic.

Who would you like to see in the draw?
