Chris Sutton Brands Olivier Ntcham Red Card ‘Brainless’ After Celtic Draw With St Mirren

Chris Sutton has branded Olivier Ntcham’s sending off “brainless” after Celtic were held by St Mirren.

The Hoops legend blasted the French midfielder for the tackle which saw him receive a second yellow in the first half of their 0-0 draw in Paisley.

Ntcham was shown red on 37 minutes by referee Andrew Dallas following a late challenge on Buddies captain Stephen McGinn.

Brendan Rodgers‘ men then struggled to break down the Buddies’ defence as the Saints players dug in to earn manager Oran Kearney a point in his first game in charge.

And Sutton believes Celtic stars, including Ntcham, didn’t approach the clash with the right mentality.

Sutton said: “I don’t know what he was thinking. He just didn’t seem right mentally tonight.

“He knows he’s already on a yellow card. Why does he have to make that challenge? It’s just brainless.

“I thought Celtic were really complacent tonight.”

But Celtic boss Rodgers refused to blame the performance of his players in his post-match interview.

The Parkhead gaffer insisted that poor refereeing decisions cost his side and even defended Ntcham by insisting that his player didn’t actually make contact with his challenge on McGinn.
