FAST FORWARD

It’s the quieter time for boxing as tonight, Saturday the 29th of September in Baden-Württemberg there is the heavyweight showdown between Erkan Terper and Robert Helenius for the IBF intercontinental belt. Helenius is well known to us thanks to a dodgy win against Derrick Chisora and being schooled Dillian Whyte whilst Terper was the man caught cheating in his win against David Price. It’s an interesting fight but for a title that one or other of our heavyweights might find themselves challenging for as the route to world glory might be blocked by other people.

Domestically in Liverpool we have 8 fights, tonight as well as in York Hall a massive bill of 14 fights. In Stoke-on Trent there are 7 fights whilst in Bolton, 11 fights. In Bracknell heavyweight Nick Webb starts to rebuild in his fight against a late replacement, Dorian Darch. Webb should be too good- have we said that before?

BIBA bring a night of championship action in Derby with the super middleweight PBC Commonwealth title fight between Nathan DeCastro and Agoe Ashong, the EBL and WBL European title fight between Ross Docherty and Guido Seilis and the PBC silver English title fight at welterweight between Craig Kennerdale and Paul Peers. Much in the news of late, thanks to licencing Scott Harrison, BIBA are back to doing what they  ant to be known for – boxing rather than politics. This should be a decent night of fighting that fight.

Towards the ends of the week on Friday the 5th of October in Barnsley lightweight Robbie Barrett takes on Matty Fagan for the IBF European belt and this looks like to fight of the week. Barrett I think should take the title?

Over in Belfast on that same Friday night, welterweight Jay Byrne is up against Paddy Gallagher for the Celtic title and there is a fascinating super bantamweight showdown between the 11 fight unbeaten Tyrone McCullagh and the 11 fight unbeaten Josh Kennedy. Hard to pick winners there but the crowds may be rooting for Byrne and McCullough.

Finally, on the same night in Norwich there are another 2 fights to whet yer appetites.
