The Anfield manager was forced into replacing the Dutch centre back 10 minutes after half-time of today’s English Premier League clash with Southampton.
It appeared van Dijk had a rib injury – and fans would have been praying that it wasn’t serious enough to see him miss some important upcoming games.
Liverpool play Chelsea back-to-back before facing Napoli in the Champions League and Manchester City in the league.
Considering how good van Dijk has been since signing for the club, he would be a huge miss in those games.
But Klopp has provided a positive Klopp update after Liverpool’s 5-0 win:
Klopp on Van Dijk: He had before the PSG game a bruise on his ribs, today he got another hit there, it should not be too serious. He said he could not shout more – which is 60% less!

So you’d assume some rest will see van Dijk fit and ready to continue contributing for Liverpool?
They play Chelsea in the Carabao Cup on Wednesday so you may see Klopp decide to rest van Dijk in that game so he’s recovered for the other three matches.
