Maurizio Sarri Reassures Chelsea Fans Over Mateo Kovacic Injury

Maurizio Sarri has reassured Chelsea fans over Mateo Kovacic’s fitness.

The Chelsea manager made it five wins from five games to kick off the English Premier League season with a 4-1 win over Cardiff City at Stamford Bridge.

They had to do it from behind, though, after Sol Bamba opened the scoring for the Welsh visitors.

But it didn’t take long for Chelsea and their new brand of attacking football under Sarri to hit top gear, with Eden Hazard scoring a hat-trick before Willian finished the scoring in the second half.

Sarri and Hazard will take most of the headlines, but Kovacic was very influential in today’s win – building on a great start to the season.

So you could understand the worry when the Croatian midfielder went down on the 50th minute and had to be substituted off.

Not that fans have anything to worry about though.

Sarri spoke post-match about how the doctors said the injury is nothing serious:

Chelsea will be hoping Kovacic doesn’t can regain fitness and maintain his place in their team for the Europa League opener against PAOK on Thursday night.
