Plenty of Arsenal Fans Seriously Enjoyed Man City’s Surprise Defeat to Lyon Defeat

Manchester City crashed to a defeat in their Champions League group stage opener on Wednesday night – and it was Arsenal supporters who certainly enjoyed seeing the result come in.

City were beaten 2-1 at home by French side Lyon, with former Liverpool target Nabil Fekir scoring what turned out to be the winning goal at the Etihad.

The reason why Gooners took so much delight in the scoreline is because City boss Pep Guardiola had handed the reins to his assistant Mikel Arteta this evening, with Pep taking a seat in the stands.

Arteta, of course, was reportedly in talks with Arsenal in the summer over becoming their new manager, only for Unai Emery to pip him to the post – and now there’s plenty of Arsenal followers who are breathing a sigh of relief:

Surely everyone’s being a bit hard on Arteta here, no? It’s one game against a pretty decent side!
