Rangers Fans Delighted After James Tavernier Agrees New Four-Year Contract

Rangers fans are over the moon this evening after their club announced captain James Tavernier has put pen-to-paper on a bumper new contact, which will keep him at Ibrox until 2022.

After being appointed skipper by Steven Gerrard in the summer, the 26-year-old has enjoyed an impressive start to the new campaign, and has been linked with moves to the likes of West Brom.

However,  it seems it was a priority of Gerrard to tie down Tavernier, and the news of his new four-year deal might be considered somewhat surprising given he only signed a three-year deal back in February of this year.

Nevertheless, the announcement on social media this evening has been greeted with glee from Gers fans:

Do you think Rangers are trying to tie Tavernier down and keep him for the long-term, or are they simply trying to protect a potentially valuable asset?

And have you been impressed by the right-back’s start to the season?
