The 18-year-old attacker was sent out on loan by Unai Emery in the hope he’d get the regular first team action he wouldn’t be getting if he stayed at Arsenal.
And that’s got off to the perfect start, with Nelson scoring just 14 minutes after climbing off the bench for his debut.
Hoffenheim were trailing 1-0 when Nelson was introduced in the 72nd minute, but the young Englishman had them back on level terms with four minutes of the game remaining when he belted home from inside the box:

Unfortunately for Nelson and Hoffenheim, it wasn’t enough to get them a draw as Fortuna Dusselforf scored a winning goal from the penalty spot just two minutes later.
But it’s a strong start for Nelson, who will want to follow in the footsteps of Jadon Sancho and Ademola Lookman in making an impact in Germany.
