Video: Clip of Virgil Van Dijk Defending Kylian Mbappe Brilliantly Goes Viral

A clip of Virgil van Dijk defending brilliantly against Kylian Mbappe is going viral.

The Liverpool defender has been on international duty with Holland over the last week, first going up against Peru last Thursday before facing France on Sunday.

That match was also the French World Cup homecoming, but Ronald Koeman’s side were more interested in making the improvements they need to ensure they don’t miss out on the next major tournament.

And they certainly looked like a better team than they have shown over recent years, going down 2-1 to the French in a hard fought game.

A big part of their success going forward is bound to be van Dijk, who is fast becoming one of the world’s best defenders.

He showed why with a brilliant one-on-one defence of Mbappe in the game – making up a clip that is going viral on social media right now:

We reckon the majority of those sharing that clip are Liverpool fans, who are very excited about the Dutchman leading their defence now.

Unfortunately for van Dijk, he was unable to stop Holland losing 2-1 to France, with Mbappe and Olivier Giroud scoring the goals for the home side on the night.
