Gareth McAuley has revealed how much signing for Rangers means to him and his family.
The Northern Irish defender was this afternoon announced as Steven Gerrard’s 15th summer signing, joining the Ibrox club on a one-year deal after leaving West Brom in the summer.
And that’s a positive move following the disappointment of yesterday’s 1-0 defeat to rivals Celtic for everyone at the club.
McAuley’s arrival brings some vital experience to a young and newly assembled Rangers squad, while the former West Brom defender adds another Gers supporter to the ranks.
As he revealed in his interview with Rangers TV after signing, he comes from a town of Rangers supporters in Northern Ireland and this move means a lot to him and his family:

Rangers aren’t back in action until September 15th when they take on Dundee so McAuley will have to wait a little bit before potentially making his debut for the club.
But the international break will give him an opportunity to get to know players in the Rangers squad who aren’t away with their national teams and that should bode well for the games starting back.
