Greg Docherty got his first goal for Shrewsbury Town in their 1-1 draw with Portsmouth at the weekend.
The Rangers midfielder surprisingly joined the English League One outfit on a season-long loan in the summer.
We write ‘surprisingly’ as Docherty was only signed from Hamilton in January and made an impact on the team before the end of last season.
But Steven Gerrard arrived and had different plans for his midfield, meaning Docherty could leave to find first team games elsewhere.
And it’s Shrewsbury who get the services of one of Scotland’s best young midfielders for a season.
He’s been a regular starter in the Town team since joining, but hadn’t scored in any of his first five games going into the weekend’s clash with Pompey.
But now he’s got one in six after seizing on a bad mistake to give his side the lead:
Unfortunately for Docherty and Shrewsbury, they were unable to hold on to their lead and the game ended 1-1 after Brett Pittman’s late penalty equaliser.
