John McGinn scored a certain Goal of the Season contender for Aston Villa this afternoon.
The former Hibs midfielder has hit the ground running since signing for Villa from Hibs in the summer transfer window.
But he’d so far failed to hit the net, drawing a blank in seven games for Steve Bruce’s men.
That all changed today though, with McGinn opening his account for Villa and putting his name in the vote for Championship Goal of the Season.

What a goal from McGinn. That reminded us of Paul Scholes in his day.
Villa were trailing Sheffield Wednesday 1-0 so the game was thanks to McGinn’s goal – but they have conceded another, with Steven Fletcher heading home Wednesday’s second.
Villa sit eighth in the Championship at the moment and really need to go on a winning run to climb up into the top six and among the title contenders.
