Jurgen Klopp compared Roberto Firmino to Edgar Davids in Liverpool training today.
The Brazilian forward’s eye has got a lot of media attention since it was poked by Jan Vertonghen’s finger in the clash with Tottenham at the weekend.
The eye injury forced Firmino off late on in the game and he could only settle for coming off the bench against Paris Saint-Germain on Tuesday night.
He turned out to be the late match-winner for Liverpool, brilliantly firing home in the box to give them a 3-2 victory in their opening Champions League game.
But precautions are still being taken over his eye – as shown with the goggles Firmino donned for training today.
Upon seeing his star striker wearing them, Klopp made the comparison to Dutch legend Davids, who wore goggles for part of his playing career after having surgery in his right eye:
"Edgar Davids is back" 😂
Bobby is back to business 👊 That flick 👀🔥

That’s a pretty accurate comparison.
Liverpool play Southampton in the Premier League on Saturday and will be hoping Firmino’s eye is recovered enough to ensure he’s back in the starting XI.
