Celtic’s Filip Benkovic Dedicates Hearts Win to Victims of the Leicester Helicopter Crash

Celtic’s Filip Benkovic Dedicates Hearts Win to Victims of the Leicester Helicopter Crash

Celtic defender Filip Benkovic has dedicated the Hoops’ win against Hearts this afternoon to the victims of the helicopter crash outside Leicester City‘s King Power Stadium last night.

The 21-year-old centre-back is on-loan from the Foxes for the entire 2018/19 campaign and has made a positive impact since moving to Glasgow at the end of August.

And whilst he’s with the Premiership champions until May, the Croatian Under-21 international has paid tribute to the owner of his parent club, Vichai Srivaddhanaprabha, who is thought to have been on-board the helicopter as it went down.

Speaking after putting in a commanding display in Celtic’s 3-0 victory at Murrayfield, Benkovic said via the Mirror: “Last night was really bad for everyone.

“Nobody expected this would happen. So I want to give this win to the families.”

Celtic will now face the winners of Aberdeen and Rangers in the Betfred Cup final next month, with Benkovic almost certainly involved if he’s fit.

More news continues to be released about last night’s horrific crash, and you can keep updated on all of the goings-on here.
