Fans Are Struggling to Believe Shaun Maloney is About to Become the New Real Madrid Assistant

Roberto Martinez has become one of the front-runners to become the new Real Madrid manager, meaning his right-hand man Shaun Maloney could be on his way to the Bernabeu – and fans are struggling to come to terms with the idea of the former Celtic man being in charge of Los Blancos.

The current Champions League holders are currently searching for a new Head Coach after the dismissal of Julen Lopetgui earlier this week, and Martinez has been installed as one of the favourites by several bookmakers.

The Spaniard endured a pretty dismal end to his last job in club management at Everton but seems to have won a lot of fans after taking Belgium to a respectable third-place finish in last summer’s World Cup.

With Antonio Conte reportedly out of the running, it seems Martinez really could be in charge of the world’s biggest and most successful club – and we can only assume his assistant manager with Belgium will be coming with him:
