Gennaro Gattuso has explained why Tiemoue Bakayoko is struggling at AC Milan.
The Italian manager is the man in charge at the Serie A giants and has to make improvements soon after taking just nine points from their first six games.
He’ll be expecting more from all of his players, but he’ll need to get more from Bakayoko in particular.
The French midfielder joined AC Milan on a season-long loan in the summer, with the San Siro side having the option to buy him for €35million next summer.
But he’s been in and out of the team so far, showing very little for Milan fans to get excited about with his performances.
Why has Bakayoko been struggling though? Gattuso takes his share of the blame on that.
Per football-italia.net, the AC Milan manager said: “Bakayoko needs to be helped, as he is struggling. The tactics haven’t been drilled into his head yet and evidently it’s my fault, we need to do more work with him in training.
“He has been here for two months and we haven’t yet been able to get him to understand the movements. It is our duty to improve him as a player, because he does have a lot of quality and we’re not finding that yet.”
Bakayoko struggled in his first season at Chelsea and the fact he’s doing the same at AC Milan suggests it may have been a mistake for Antonio Conte to sign him at £40m two summers ago.
