Hibs’ Martin Boyle Called Up by Australia.. Potentially Ending Scotland Hopes

Hibs‘ Martin Boyle has been handed a call-up by Australia – potentially ending any hopes he’ll be a Scotland international.

The talented winger has been one of Neil Lennon’s best players over recent years, with the Easter Road manager himself saying earlier this week that Boyle has been his most improved star.

He also spoke about Boyle potentially getting an international call-up – mentioning the possibility of Scotland or Australia going for the former Montrose and Dundee man.

But Boyle was nowhere to be seen in Alex McLeish’s Tartan Army squad named earlier this week and now Australia have moved to call on him for their training camp in UAE.

Australia are due to play Kuwait in a friendly too, but Boyle is yet to get international clearance to play for the country of his father’s birth.

So he’ll have to wait to get an official game for Australia.

So all hope is not lost getting Boyle in a Scotland jersey as he won’t be an Australia international until playing in a competitive game for them.

But it seems unlikely that McLeish will go for the winger or that Boyle will now turn his back on Australia to play for Scotland.
