John Souttar shared the standard hospital bed picture after undergoing surgery on his hip injury.
It was confirmed last week that the Hearts defender would miss the next five months of action after picking up the injury while on Scotland duty.
That’s a big setback for Souttar and the Jambos considering they have both started the season very well – the former making a Scotland breakthrough while the latter currently sits top of the Scottish Premiership and in the semi-finals of the Betfred Cup.
The big defender is on the mend though, as he showed with the standard footballer hospital pic shortly after his operation:

Delighted that’s the hardest part over and the operation was a success . Thanks for all the kind messages and I’ll do whatever I can to be back playing as soon as possible again. Really looking forward to Sunday now to watch the boys hopefully progress into a final .. Everyone involved and connected to this amazing club deserves that . Thanks Again 🇱🇻❤
That’ll be a sorry sight for Hearts fans – but at least they know he’s through surgery and can start his recovery.
With a March return pencilled in for Souttar, the onus now falls on Jimmy Dunne and Clevid Dikamona to marshall the defence.
Both have been impressive since joining the Tynecastle club in the summer and their last two performances together suggest Hearts will do just fine without Souttar and Christophe Berra, who is also on the sidelines with injury.
