Rangers fans were joined by former Gers midfielder Josh Windass in criticising Umar Sadiq for diving against Aberdeen this afternoon, when it looked like he could go on to easily score into an empty net.
Steven Gerrard’s men were knocked out of the Betfred Cup semi-finals after a 1-0 defeat this afternoon, with 19-year-old Lewis Ferguson scoring the only goal of the game.
However, on-loan forward Sadiq had a golden opportunity to level the game up with just a few minutes remaining as he looked to round Dons goalie Joe Lewis, before throwing himself to the deck in theatrical fashion.
Referee John Beaton had a good view of the incident and quickly brandished a yellow card in the direction of the 21-year-old, and it’s fair to say his actions really haven’t gone down well with his own club’s supporters:
Didn’t need to go down . Could tap it in

Sadiq shouldn't play for us again. Why the fuck would you go down when you have a chance of scoring.

Sadiq is the worst footballer on the the planet. The cunts stealing a wage, fuck off

I've put Umar Sadiq just behind Egil Ostenstad in my list of great #Rangers No.9s

Only if sadiq stayed on his feet and put the ball in the net…

@RangersFC get Sadiq to fuck

Absolutely no need for that Sadiq boy to go down there, got an open goal and decides to dive.. games up the pole, fuck modern fitbaw etc

And yet again, complacency from set pieces and not creating enough (if any) chances is what costs us. Still lost for words on that Sadiq moment… Get him back on the next plane to Rome

I don't care if he scores the equaliser. I never want to see Umar Sadiq in a @RangersFC jersey again.

The Nigerian is supposed to be on-loan in Glasgow from Roma until the end of the season, but could his stay in the Premiership be cut short after today’s antics?
