James Forrest has been left out of the Scotland starting line-up for tonight’s match against Israel – and plenty of Tartan Army supporters are far from pleased with the decision.
The Celtic winger is playing some of the best football of his career under Brendan Rodgers, and managed to score an impressive four goals in the first-half of the Hoops’ win away at St Johnstone on Sunday.
That brought Forrest’s goal tally for the season to six, which isn’t too shabby for a right-winger, but it appears his outstanding form hasn’t been enough to persuade Alex McLeish to start him in Haifa, with Kilmarnock’s Stephen O’Donnell chosen to start on the right-hand side.

When the team was announced on social media earlier this evening, there were plenty of fans who were a little bemused by the decision to omit Forrest:
Scotland are a complete joke. James Forrest is on fire and McLeish picks a Kilmarnock full back instead 😳 https://t.co/RvJXDb7YwC
