The 33-year-old is currently playing with Helsingborgs in his homeland but will be known to English football fans for a failed stint at Wigan Athletic between 2007 and 2008.
But, with United’s defence struggling to put together a run of clean-sheets this season, Granqvist has been linked with a move to Old Trafford following his impressive World Cup displays during the summer.
And now the man himself has now confirmed the rumours, whilst adding that he’s ‘honoured’ to be targeted by one of the world’s biggest clubs.
Speaking via the Sun, Granqvist said: “There is indeed interest.
“This time there is a kernel of truth [to the rumours].”
“I am honoured that I am linked to such a large club.
“If there is a concrete offer in January, then both the club and I will accept that, but that is currently not the case.”
Given he’s already played alongside Victor Lindelof at international level, perhaps Granqvist could get the best out of the £30 million centre-back in English football too, eh?
What do you think of the potential transfer?
