Video: Man City’s Riyad Mahrez Absolutely Skies Late Crucial Penalty Against Liverpool

Manchester City winger Riyad Mahrez missed a crucial opportunity to seal victory at Anfield this afternoon after skying a late penalty high into the stands.

A cagey and stand-off match looked like it was going to be settled in the 85th minute, after Virgil van Dijk naively brought down Leroy Sane inside the penalty area.

With the score poised at 0-0, a goal at that point would’ve surely meant all three points would be heading back the Etihad.

With the usual penalty-taker Sergio Aguero having gone off injured earlier in the game, Mahrez was handed responsibility of ending a win-less run at Liverpool’s iconic stadium that stretches back 17 matches.

Roberto Baggio, eat your heart out:

What do you think of the miss? And who could’ve taken the spot-kick, other than Mahrez?

The result leaves the Premier League title race finely poised – but who do you fancy to come out on top come May?
