We all know that British football doesn’t have it’s shortage of outspoken broadcasters, and some of the spats that can take place in the newspapers columns and in the various mix-zones across the country.
But very few of them (Jim McLean’s infamous showdown with the BBC’s John Barnes aside) actually end up coming to physical blows, but it seems Yarmolenko doesn’t mess about, especially when it comes to commentator Wladimir Kobelkov.
Speaking via the Independent, the former Borussia Dortmund midfielder explained: “In my youth, I fought a lot.
“There was wins and there were losses. It’s normal for a boy, for a man.
“I want to announce my next fight.
“I don’t want to listen to that Kobelkov any longer.
“I want to call him out for a fight and get my revenge on all those things he’s said on air. I’m waiting for an answer.”
Personally, there’s been plenty of times we’ve felt like climbing through the TV and aiming a few swings at Paul Merson, Graeme Souness or Kris Commons, but we never actually considered doing it.
Perhaps Yarmolenko should get into the ring and sort out his differences with this gentlemen in a celebrity boxing match.
We’d definitely watch.
