Brendan Rodgers has shared his hope that Ryan Christie will sign a new contract at Celtic.
The Scottish midfielder has emerged as one of the Hoops manager’s star men over recent weeks, putting in a man of the match performance against Hearts in the Betfred Cup semi-final before helping them smash Dundee and then Hearts again in the following games.
He’s scored three goals in three games and is in line to start the Europa League clash with RB Leipzig tomorrow night at Celtic Park.
So it’s no surprise Rodgers was asked for his opinion on Christie’s quality form while speaking to the media this afternoon.
The Hoops boss praised the midfielder before going on to say that he hopes a new deal can be agreed:
🗣️ BR on @ryanchristie2: "He's been brilliant in this little spell. I had a really good chat with him during the week. To see his progress is a huge credit to him. He has the confidence to fill the shirt. If he can sign a new deal that'll be absolutely great." #UEL #CELRBL

That’s a big boost for Christie, who started the season outside the starting XI, but has well and truly proven his worth in recent matches.
Given how popular he is with the supporters too, a new contract makes perfect sense for all involved.
