We were looking west last week at the Matchroom in the USA bill on Saturday the 17th of November in Kansas brought us real heavyweight action where Jarell Miller managed a 4th round stoppage of Bogdan Dinu. He wants to knockout a Brit next and there are quite a few that would oblige him but avoid the ending he predicts – we wanted a statement and we got a big one!

We also got the middleweight clash between Clarissa Shields with the IBF, WBA and WBC middleweight belts on the line, up against our very own Hannah Rankin. It was a fairytale night that ended with a shutout for Shields and reality check for Rankin who came up short. Rankin got a lot of positives out of this but if she wants a world title she will have to hope that Shields goes up in weight – Shields looks untouchable at this level and in the division…

Over in Bilbao, the continued farce of Frankie Gavin’s professional career was the focus when he entered the ring for the EBU welterweight title fight with defending champion Kerman Lejarraga. It ended with a 4th round stoppage for Lejarraga that came at the end of Gavin not making weight, falling out with his training team and travelling for a full 24 hours before getting into the ring; is it the end?

On home soil we had, in Clacton on Sea, a BIBA bill that saw the PBC international silver title fight between Navid Iran and Ben McGivern go to McGivern

Meanwhile in York Hall of the fights on show the fight we all were waiting to see saw cruiserweight Wadi Camacho get revenge on Arfan Iqbal for the Commonwealth title. He managed to stop Iqbal in the 7th though some negative behaviour after the fight marred what should have been a massive night for Camacho so it was a bitter sweet moment…

In Manchester welterweight Liam Taylor got a split decision win over Tyrone Nurse on points and it will be interesting to see where Taylor and Nurse go next.

Elsewhere in Brentwood super welterweight Harley Benn got a points win against Teodor Boyadjiev and on Monday the 19th of November in London lightweight Boy Jones was in against Craig Evans for the WBO European title and lost on points.
