It was on this day 32 years ago that Manchester United appointed Sir Alex Ferguson as their manager.
And that moment is quite rightly being remembered by all those at, or close to, the Old Trafford club today.
The Scotsman made the move from Aberdeen to Manchester on November 6th, 1986, and went on to become their greatest manager ever – winning 13 league titles, five FA Cups, four League Cups and two Champions League trophies.
Ferguson made United one of the world’s most successful teams, playing a brand of football that is still pined for by fans five years after his retirement.
And he made sure some of the world’s best talent wore the United colours.
But who would make up his best XI? Bleacher Report’s Dean Jones has had a stab at it:

Some notable exclusions are David Beckham, Denis Irwin, Bryan Robson and Ruud van Nistelrooy – but it is hard to argue with that XI.
United fans – what do you think?
