Kieran Tierney Says Livingston’s Plastic Pitch Had Nothing to do with His Latest Injury

Kieran Tierney Says Livingston’s Plastic Pitch Had Nothing to do with His Latest Injury

Celtic defender Kieran Tierney has insisted Livingston’s plastic pitch played no part in his latest hamstring injury, after he was forced to sit-out Scotland‘s vital Nations League matches.

One of the first names on Alex McLeish’s team-sheet, Tierney pulled out of the squad to face Albania and Israel last week after playing in the Hoops’ 0-0 draw away to Livingston the previous weekend.

And whilst McLeish publicly blamed the surface, Tierney has other thoughts, as he looks to regain full fitness ahead of Celtic’s next Premiership fixture – which just so happens to be on a plastic pitch against Hamilton this Saturday.

The 21-year-old joined his manager Brendan Rodgers for his weekly media conference earlier today, and he quickly absolved the Tony Macaroni Arena of any blame:

Despite Tierney’s comments, surely it’s still not ideal having synthetic pitches in the top-flight of Scottish football, particularly in this day and age?

What do you think?
