Liverpool crashed to a disappointing 2-0 defeat in Belgrade last night, with Jurgen Klopp admitting his side are struggling to find their mojo, and there’s a lot of supporters who reckon the departure of Željko Buvač could be a big factor in the slump.
The Reds are now on a shaky peg in the Champions League having lost two out of their four group phase matches so far, and last night’s result was their third consecutive away defeat in European competition.
Their form in the Premier League is largely pretty good, and their recent continental troubles could be nothing more than a blip, but there’s a theory doing the rounds on social media which tends to make a bit of sense.
Željko Buvač had been Klopp’s right-hand man throughout his entire career until he decided to take a leave from football at the end of April, citing personal issues, and the coach nicknamed ‘The Brain’ has been sorely missed by some Reds fans:
Alright Buvac you’ve made your point, come back now

It’s easy to joke about how Buvac leaving has negatively impacted our performances and tactics, but when do we take that suggestion seriously? We look a totally different side since his departure. That fact is undeniable.

Buvac was definitely the thinking side of Klopps brain. #LFC

What actually was Buvac’s job? Cos I ain’t the slightest of clue. Just know Klopp would’ve died for him. Genuine question

Buvac needs to come back ASAP! #LFC

His name keeps coming up as one of the reasons Liverpool aren’t playing like they used to. Željko Buvač was the mastermind behind tactics. He’s a massive miss.

Klopp misses his baby daddy Buvac, we need him back

Do you think Klopp’s limitations have been exposed without Buvač by his side? Or is this run nothing more than just an expected slump in form?
