Carlos Pena‘s loan in Mexico is due to expire in the New Year and it seems there’s plenty of Rangers supporters who would be willing to give the midfielder another opportunity to prove himself under Steven Gerrard.
The 28-year-old Mexico international is currently on-loan with Necaxa, having previously been shipped out to Cruz Azul with the club’s former manager Pedro Caixinha.
Pena was the highlight signing of Caixinha’s doomed spell at Ibrox and soon came to embody everything that was wrong with the Portuguese’s time in charge.
Rangers are thought to have paid out over £2million to sign Pena back in the summer of 2017, and he wasn’t completely terrible whilst in Glasgow, scoring four goals in 12 league appearances, as well as setting up several others.
January 1 marks the end of Pena’s loan with Necaxa – and it seems there’s plenty of fans who’d be happy to give him another go:
If #CarlosPèna can get himself fit he’d be a baller in Gerrards system!
He’s a goal threat from midfield even when he wasn’t fit for us!

Gerrard will turn Pena into an exciting, mobile box to box midfielder.

Recent pics of Pena show he's looking in great shape.
I hope Gerrard at least has a look at him…there is no doubt there is a player in there.
The rest is up to Pena.

Regarding the Carlos Peña situation………
You know that the support has completely gone to shit when the fans don’t give out second chances.
The fan base has fallen to glory hunters.

Say what you like about Carlos Pena but he is one of the good guys in football. Using the money he earns to provide more opportunities for the less fortunate to play football in Mexico by building pitches and supplying equipment.

Do you think there’s any chance at all that Pena could somehow resurrect his Rangers career in 2019?
