Rangers gave an Under-20 debut to promising midfielder Leon King today – despite the youngster being at the tender age of just 14.
Youth team boss Graeme Murty watched from the sidelines as the young Gers thumped Partick Thistle 6-1 at Lesser Hampden this afternoon in the City of Glasgow Cup, with promising striker Dapo Mebude bagging two of the goals, with Andy Dallas, Liam Burt and Stephen Kelly also getting on the score-sheet.
However, the real highlight of the match was King’s debut, after he was introduced with just six minutes to go as a replacement for Kai Kennedy, with his 15th birthday not until January.

Celtic prodigy Karamoko Dembele made global headlines when he made his Under-20s bow for the Hoops aged just 13 in 2016, and was quickly linked with Barcelona and Man City.
We don’t know if King will attract similar interest, but surely having such a promising young player on their books is an exciting prospect for Rangers, no?
